Denver-native Brittany Charboneau is a self-proclaimed “Funny Runner.”
(Did she say a “funny runner”? Never heard of it.)
No, it’s not someone who tells jokes while running or someone who runs comedically. In fact, Brittany is a competitive runner training to qualify for the Olympic Marathon Trials, while simultaneously chasing her passion for comedy and acting (pun absolutely intended). This is no small feat for small feet because it has taken her over fifteen years of persistence and consistency to get to where she is in her running career. The same fire runs in her veins for comedy as it does for racing. She lives for her dreams, breathes determination and sweats dedication, never a wavering eye on the goal in sight.
Deemed the esteemed title of “Funniest Girl” in eighth grade, Brittany’s love for making people laugh started at a young age. Fast forward thirteen years, she has been passionately pursuing writing and performing full-time for the past three years. Trained in acting and improv at The Actor’s Pulse in Sydney, Australia, at The Annoyance Theater in Chicago, at the Denver Center for Performing Arts, and most recently at The Bovine Metropolis Theater in Denver, Brittany is known for her dynamic characters that she brings to life on-stage, on-camera and on-fleek.
Brittany was a 2016 graduate of The Second City Chicago Writing Program, where she debuted her song-writing skills with the hit song “Dad Jokes.” In Denver, she has written for and performed in two sketch comedy shows at the Bovine Metropolis Theater, is a regular performer in two improv troupes and has acted in numerous on-camera projects.
When it comes to running, Brittany really goes the distance and gets her highs from miles (cue “Dad Jokes”). Years of incoordination in other sports led to finding her love of distance running at age thirteen. Following middle school, she ran track and cross country all four years as a pretty average runner (her words). She walked on the cross country team her junior year at Colorado State University in 2008.
Following college Brittany started running marathons, but it wasn’t until recently that she really started to hit her stride. In May 2017, Brittany won and set a new course record for the Colfax Marathon with a time of 2:52:50. The following October, she was the first female finisher in the Kansas City Marathon with a time of 2:51:31. Most recently in January 2018, Brittany crossed the Disney World Half Marathon finish line as the first female finisher with a time of 1:17:35. Brittany is sponsored by fellow Colorado-native company OtterBox, and thanks to her coach Jenni Nettik with Mercuria Running, she’s looking forward to continue training towards her goal of qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials!
Brittany currently lives, trains and acts in Denver with her husband Justin and their two cats, There’s a Pool Party on Saturday (yes, that’s her real name. no, they don’t shorten it. yes, she loves water) and Snacks (because you can’t have a pool party on Saturday without snacks).
